I am a first time goat owner. I just recently bought a mother goat and her two kids from a farm auction. I'm not sure how old they are. I've noticed that the smaller of the two babies has yellow, runny poop. He doesn't seem any different (health wise) usual but I am worried. I looked online trying to find an answer. Some said it's normal, others said it's not. I want to know what's wrong with my baby and what I can do to help him!!! I'm in urgent need of answers!

Looks like you got yourself an Alpine dairy goat with twins. Good purchase! I have an Alpine dairy goat myself and she has given me twins every year. I think what you described may be fairly normal. Sounds like one of the kids is getting an enormous amount of milk to the point he/ she is getting scours. This was the case with my Alpine and her twins and it took care of itself. See some of these dairy mommas put out enough milk for several more kids and if she only has 2, then there's the possibility that either both or one of them will get too much milk and get scours. Don' worry too much especially if it is keeping up with its twin. Good luck and welcome to Back yard Herds. ;):welcome

Welcome to the forum @TayBurk1 ! Yep, it's a pretty normal situation. If you're overly concerned, you can give the kid some probiotics or live culture yogurt and it'll help firm up the poo some.

What a lovely Alpine and her babies! You got a nice girl and kids. I wouldn't worry too much about the babies just yet. They might be getting too much milk as the other posters said. Just keep an eye on it and make sure the little one is acting normal. Probiotics (yogurt) are really helpful. If the little one doesn't firm up, you may want to have a vet take a look at him. Good luck!

The runny yellow poop is perfectly normal, though usually only in the first week. It is hard to say how old those babies are but they look older than a week. I agree with the other posters, don't worry about it, just keep an eye on things. The yellow poop can be very sticky, make sure the baby is getting clean off well or the baby can get "clogged up". Take a warm, damp cloth and wipe it off if it isn't getting clean. They are very nice looking goats. As long as they are active and eating well, they are probably just fine.
