The gland is between the toes but the infection could be coming out of anywhere on the hoof. If it's closed it has to break it's way out somewhere.
Squeeze around the part that's already open that way it doesn't have to pop out anywhere else. The scab (if there is one) will probably come off and you'll see nasty yuck come out but think of it like this...better out than in!

Along with blue spray I'd also hit him with some peg-g (long acting penicillin) I would be generous 10cc's every other day for a week or till it started looking like it's getting better then a day or 2 longer. I've never wrapped feet before but I've heard it done like Bbhobcfarms describes. To labor intensive for me so I worry that I'll be trapping stuff inside if I don't get it done often enough or he gets in the pond yuck or mud and I don't see it right away.

His foot might be bigger but his glands shouldn't be any bigger relative to the size difference between his feet and your ewes.
But sometimes things are just different.
I'd also trim his hooves way back to make sure all the stuff gets a chance to drain and not get stuck in a fold of his hoof walls. Perfect environment for growing bacteria.

I tried squeezing it and nothing happened. I put some antibiotic ointment on it and the wound is healing...that is, until the flies chew it open again. They seem to be the same size since when I bought him. They are much larger than the other sheep, but I don't think it's an infection. The only reason it bled in the first place was because the flies were chewing it open. But for good measure, I am due for a hoof trimming anyway.

This paste does not easily come off, and it is great for open wounds, not just on dogs, but other animals. Unlike the spray, it creates a barrier and is not easily worn off. I have used it before, and I like it a lot for wounds that can't be covered, it's called "Flys Off" paste: Its for sale here on Amazon, but maybe your feed store carries it or can order it: http://www.amazon.com/Flys-Off-5-Ounce-Fly-Repellent-Ointment/dp/B00028ZM3A
