For those considering Bucks.. some things to consider!!!

I have three extremely tame and loveable nigerian dwarf bucks ranging in age from 3, 2.5 and 1.5 and I noticed this year they are very much more aggressive and downright nasty during the fall season. They are absolutely not taking a break from their nasty little habits.. they are loud, obnoxious, nonstop blabbering and tongue flapping screaming, violent head butting and scuffling with bloody heads/scabs and finally constantly peeing on themself!!! this habit seems to have gotten worse this year to the point of them appearing to develop some scald around muzzles and noses.. more so in one of the bucks because not only does he pee on himself but he is constantly sticking his mouth/muzzle in the pee of the other two.. fortunately their legs/chest/barrel areas look ok.. just sticky with urine and dirt.. no scalding yet in those areas.. oh and the youngest guy is so "horned up" that he tries to put the moves on me.. this includes coming up to the gate in their stall and tongueflapping/spitting at me.. and lets say I have to be more cautious when taking their water buckets inside.. he obviously sees me as a potential mate..

I am hoping this runs it course soon.. recalling last year they settled down in the winter..and actually cleaned up some too.. I love my bucks but this is really the down side to having a few!!!! Thankfully I am still able to keep them eating and they were in good condition before this all started as I know they have probably dropped a couple of pounds from all their ruthless behavior!!!! oh and some of it could be jealousy.. the guy that is being the baddest has been used to breed on a few occasions this month..

I had a boer buck given to me once i raised him at the time i didn't know playing with them in pushing there heads was making it worst in i never scolded him well we he was 1 nobody could get around him he broke my daughter dad nose in attacked my dad he got more worst around female goats he broke the door to his house he broke the chain he was he just got to dangerous so we ship him the slaughter house he made good goat chops lol but it was my fault he got like this I feel bad at times when I think about it

Do your bucks have "friends?" I have three Nigi bucks and they each have their own wether as a friend, although they don't seem to mind if they switch off on the wethers. This is my fourth year with my bucks and outside of the expected strange choice of perfume and blubbering none of them have been outrageous or have "eyed" me.

Of course having wethers for the bucks does mean more mouths to feed, but it works for me.

i try to just keep one buck so that cuts down on the problems but there is still a lot of blubbering, snorting and peeing going on. since I'm the one who brings the girls to him every time he sees me he starts with the trash talk and peeing. i have to dodge to keep dry.lol
@danielle you learned a hard but valuable lesson about bucks. i never ever let anyone play with any of my goats by head pushing. teaches them really bad habits

I have 6 bucks who all live together.

Biggest problem I have with them is getting all under my feet when I'm trying to feed them.

That and trying to breed my dogs Emma and Angel.
