Being a goat owner myself, I can only imagine how upset the man was that his baby was missing. I was determined to do everything I could to find whose goat she was.

It was kind of bittersweet for me finding the owner since the day before my neighbor called about finding this goat last Wednesday, a friend of mine had her favorite bottle baby doeling stolen from her barn during the night. I am so glad that we found the owner of this doeling, but am really sad that my friend probably won't be so lucky to get hers back.

He had her tethered. He said there were kids on 4-wheelers going past a lot that day so he felt they did it. I advised him that tethering isn't a good idea around here with the stray dogs and coyotes. He said that he has large dogs that keep them away. I was kind of wondering where his large dogs where if it was in fact kids that unhooked her, but I kept my mouth shut. She is his goat, and it wasn't my place to tell him anymore. I just hope he doesn't have anymore problems with her getting away since he lives next to a 4 lane divided highway. He was very fortunate that she didn't get hit before the neighbor lady picked her up.

It is possible the dogs don't protect against 2 legged predators. I have had dogs in the past that would have helped a 2 legged predator walk away with my farm in exchange for some petting or a treat. Just a thought :)
