Side-dressing the berry area.

Progress!

I spent just over three hours outside this morning. It's barely 80° but the sun is hot. After digging out old soil from the main coop, spreading it around the gardens, mowing the ditch area by the road last night, and then the side yard today...I'm done.

Tomorrow is another day...

I didn't think I would be able to work outside today, I had the sweats on and off all night, which is the precursor to heat exhaustion. After going to the farmers' market I watered all the gardens, fairly deeply as we've not had any rain in 2-3 weeks!

Then I decided to water my house plants on the front porch, which led to me setting them on their stands, which led to me sweeping the porch...and I wound up cleaning, decluttering, and arranging things. Since I wasn't working in the sun the heat didn't bother me. I made fresh potting soil for the annuals using compost, peat moss, and a little of last year's soil.

Annuals are all planted now.

While I was working on the porch I had the hose set to trickle, and watered the hydrangeas, Japanese maple, and gardenia bush.

I took the remaining load of chicken coop litter and dumped it on the bare dirt by the berry area. It can start working magic on that mess of clay clods.

Amaryllis are about to bloom.
