oh shes already dead.

i dont think it was wry neck, she had NO head tilting, or any of the symptoms of wry this morning at 8:30am, i saw her drink, she was hopping around normally, shes NEVER head tilted ever
then at about 10:30 am she was lay on her side, with wet feet and wet side (the side she was lay in), head cricked odly to one side and slightly back twitching/spasaming. if she was breathing it wasnt very deeply but she was still spasaming, her head was "stuck" in the crooked position but she was otherwise limp so i culled her immediatly, i couldnt watch her continue to twitch...

the position of her head did look like the pictures of the rabbits ive seen with wry neck, but from what i know about the illness its fairly slow progressing, a rabbit with a wry neck issue shows tilting of the head long before death would occur. unless wry neck can occure and kill that quickly in an otherwise healthy seeming rabbit.
as i said shes had NO symptoms.
but it literally was in the space of 2 hours, fine and COMPLETLY normal, no twitch no tilt, just normal...to on her side, eyes rolled back/lifeless, spasaming.

whatever it was...it was quick acting.

How hot has it been? Rabbits that are overheating will try to cool themselves off by licking their feet and wiping their ears to try to cool the blood. They can also look like they are having a seizure. I've lost a few rabbits to high temps and they will look fine then 30 min later they will be dead. Some just can't take the heat.

last week it was only in the 70's
I do frozen water bottles in anything over 83 (the hutches are in the shade so there cooler anyway but id rather be safe)
very odd.
I lost the other holland lop doe that had been in with the one i lost the other day, yesterday to what i think was GI Stasis, fine the day before, but didnt eat or drink at all overnight, very lethrgic in the morning and belly was bloated and lots of pebbles, gave her mineral oil as per the vet, but she was gone about an hour later.

the sad part in all of this is the one rabbit i was worried about seems to be 100% perfectly normal now, eating drinking curios and inquisitive...realy frustrating overall but a valuable lesson learned, NEVER buy baby bunnies from unknown sources, the 3 bunnies ive lost this month all came from the same seller, only 1 of the 2 reaminging bunnies form the group also cme from that seller and she seems fine...
the fuzzy lop came from a different seller and now hes gotten over whatever it was he seems fine...so im wondering if something underlying caused the initial symptoms?! i dunno. but either way...im down to 1 lop buck, which is less than ideal so over the next few months il be on the look out for a couple of young ADULT does for him. im not doing young babies from other people again, just too much to go wrong.
