I was hopping for one doe and 2 bucks, but I am thinking now maybe it may be better to have 2 does and 1 buck.

Absolutely agree with OFA - I have been blessed with a line of pygmy goats who are the exception and not the rule! The goat I am referring to is 12 years old and freshened with triplets this year. I also milked a daughter and granddaughter of her and got as much... And they all have beautiful udders. Even with the smaller teats they have such soft, supple udders that they aren't that hard to milk. Will admit there is a learning curve to handling those smaller teats, lol.

DISCLAIMER: I have other pygmies that would do well to give a quart a day... if that much.

Point being - be careful in your search. Ask to be there for a milking and observe as well as taste. If you want to be sure of the goat's production - be there for TWO consecutive milkings!

Nigi's are the more proven small milkers so definitely don't discount them...and besides...they come in such pretty colors, lol!

You said you were getting a buck too? Please remember that until you breed your goats, does and bucks must be kept seperate. Does and whethers and bucks and whethers get along fine though. Also, please allow at least 6 months between breeding a doe.

I would get nigerians if I were you. They are higher in butterfat. They also do not require as much space.
