My doe is raising her babies and doing quite well. She has lots of milk and they will be a week old tomorrow. Saturday when I get the stand I plan on feeding her on it everyday so hopefully she will get used to it. Since my doe is raising the kids when should I start milking her? I know she will not give too much since this is her first time..err freshening is what is is called I think. But I want to try and start training her now. Also, how often should I milk her with kids...once a day? I dont want to take too much and how long after kids should I milk her? I have also been feeding her Molly's Herbals Mo Milk for a week and the kids are getting plenty of milk. They are strong and healthy so far.

Not sure about with kids. I always pulled my kids, but
getting them to jump on a milking stand for grain is a peice of cake.
It took me no time at all to get mine used to it.

You can start milking anytime now. Feeding her on the stand first is a good idea. When your ready what you'll probably want to do is separate the babies from the doe (maybe in the stall next to her or something) for either all night or at least a few hours (maybe in the morning). After that time period get her up on the stand with grain and milk her out, then let the babies back in with her for the rest of the day. You would repeat the next day.

Thank you! I will have 4 days to get her feed her on the stand before the kids are two weeks old. It will be her first time and mine...I will report back on how it is going!
