We just slaughtered ours, but yes, they did everything together. They even massaged each other with their snouts. One laid down, the others gathered around and thoroughly "snouted" the one getting massaged. It must have felt good, because often the one laying down would close their eyes.

Do you butcher yourself?

My first response to that question is; NO! We butchered the HOG!
:lol::lol::lol:

My second response is to say yes, we did it ourselves. It was a lot of work, but we got a lot of meat, we think we did a good job and we are proud of what we did. It was a neighborhood thing between 3 families, we all pitched in to slaughter and quarter the hogs. Here's my thread on it.

LOVED,LOVED,LOVED Both of your threads you are so lucky to have such a close community that get together and do things like this. WOW reading you threads made me so hungry. I have so many questions but before I ask any of them I'll have to re-read your threads to make sure I didn't miss anything.:pop

We have raised hogs two times and will get feeder pigs in August of 2018, slaughter in March of 2019. Our freezer is jam packed right now! We will, in all probability, do another "community" hog raising and slaughtering. There are lots of people on here that know more than I do, but I will be glad to help you any way I can.

I have a thread on here some place as well of butchering a potbelly pig, that might help as well because butchering a potbelly is a littler different then a full size pig.

Pigs are herd animals though no one thinks of them that way because they can live alone too. Most pigs prefer to be with other pigs and they do the same activities together yes.

Thanks, I am trying to find your thread on butchering a potbelly pig. How do I find your past threads?
