Hi,
I had a 6 week old Kiko that bloated real bad 3 days ago, Blew up like an overstuffed pinata. We stayed up until midnight giving him baking soda & berping him every hour or so & gor him pretty well deflated. The next day he looked & acted almost normal. Today he seems fine. We withheld milk in the am & stopped giving milk replacer. Not sure if that caused him to bloat or he got into the chiken feed or a combination. My research told me I needed to give C&D Antitoxin asap. I live in a small town & nobody withing 70 miles had any, not even the vets. A vet I talked to said to start him on 2cc pennicillin 2x per day for three days, absent the antitoxin. I started him on the Penn 2 days ago. I got the antitoxin today & gave the first injection. He is due for another Pennicillin tonight & two tomorrow. Should I stop the Penn. now that I am giving the anti toxin? Also, I have heard different things on how long to give the antitoxin for. Directions indicate 10 cc every 12 hours but does not tell me how long?

I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm thinking you can quit the antitoxin if Pen G alone is keeping him 'ok'. I'd also do no less than 7 days of Pen G, not 3.
(Don't want to just knock a bug down, if may come back.)

Has he not been vaccinated w/ CD/T? If not, I'd hit him in 7-10 days w/ CD/T and boost in 3-4 wks.
