Thank you. We've been pretty lucky with ear length. Heights of Does are 62cm, 63 & 64cm. All are 5yrs and above. Our stud boy is 55cm at 1. his sire was 71cm at 5. Can never pick what colours they will throw though. Sire had very dominant black and frosting traits, so next season should be exciting! We don't have Nigerian dwarfs in Australia, so we're using Australian miniature goats to reduce heights. image.jpgimage.jpgLast seasons babies above!!

Yes. Sorry we talk in cm over here not inches!! I'm forever converting too because I'm always looking at your websites and pictures over there! Maybe one day when I win the lottery, I'll be able to import some semen with totally different bloodlines! Now wouldn't that be sweet?
We are using the Aust Miniature and sometimes the boer goat to reduce size and add stockiness/ear length.
I prefer the munchkin miniature ear type because there's already a small hang/fold to the ear. Here's a pick of a small munchkin boy we're raising to help reduce the sizes in some of the larger girls. He'll get a turn in 2016. We only keep a small herd, so don't have many boys, and I'm very picky about what I sell and keep, because we've had some absolute crackers of late. Just love all the babies.
I'll get back to you with the milk production. My very close neighbour and fellow breeder milks her girls (I don't have time at the moment because of family commitments)she did a 24hr test not long ago. I'll let you know soon. I do know that these girls were giving at least 2 litres a day, plus feeding twins, so they do ok!! Speak soon

I'm ok with sharing my photos/info on the breeders forum, but not sure how to do it. Not real computer savvy!! I'm sure you could point me in the right direction and give me tips!!

Love that pic! Yeah I can see the advantage of having ears that are drop and not erect.

The minis here are not to be "stocky" generally the Nigerian is "bred" out of them. They want each breed to look like the standard just mini. :hu

Ok thanks, I'll give it a go!
I agree with the stockiness being bred out. That's our aim by Gen6! I think I'm doing it backwards to you, but so far the results are nice! I've personally never used Boer before, but there's some Mini breeders that do to keep ear length and thick body. There's only about 4 serious breeders of Mini Nubian in Australia, because most get frustrated that they don't stay under the mini height of 25-26"! I don't care what their heights are, I just live their sweet nature and great personality, plus colours can be amazing!!
The #5 Doeling that you like has nice long backline and legs, but ears aren't as long as some others!! It's a work in progress!! Next year we're hoping to bring in some bigger stock with different lines, and that will increase the ear and body length. Then later on we'll buy a full size Anglo Doe and breed down again! So many things we can do!! Below are photos of recent kids to an aeroplaned eared boy! They were beautiful, but I decided on the #5 doeling to keep instead of the spotted doeling shown here, cause I thought her ears might go up like her sires!! Sire is the bottom pic. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Thank you. We do too. Fat and spoilt yes!! They do have a shorter wider body at the moment, but give us a few more years!!
I just tried to post a new thread on breeders section. Hope it worked?

As usual I'm a bit late to the thread, nevertheless...

A big Howdy and welcome to you from the Great State of Texas, where "the stars at night are big and bright"... and different from those you see out your back door.

If you don't make fun of my drawl I won't chuckle over your "Queen's English". Deal? Good, now sit yourself down, put your feet up and grab that glass of iced tea. Yes that'n over there with your name on it.

Love the look of your goaties . The black one with the wavy ears is a hoot. Can you airmail that one to me? I have Nigerians and they keep me more than busy.
