Around the end of feb my friend picked up 5 dairy goats @ the auction. We were happy to find they were in milk & I purchased one from her. Her milk dropped production & I dried her up. Well about ten days ago I noticed she had milk again. Seven days ago she got ansty started pawing the ground, stretching & I thought she was close. Well now she is beyond full of milk, has no tail ligaments, I can no longer feel babies move im starting to get worried. As I dont know when she was bred I dont know her due ate. but so far she hasnt dialated or started trying to push. but it seemed she should have had them by now. im a couple hrs from a livestock vet.

Unfortunately, it can take awhile.....only your doe knows if she will have a quick delivery or take her sweet time. Mine usually decide to shift the kids and stop looking pregnant at all the last month or so. It does sound like your doe is very close though.

So last nite she was dialated..getting up and down, almost didnt look pregnant anymore, raising her front feet...now this morning again nothing. My husband is laughing and claimed that why its called "just kidding" Aghhhh! she is driving me crazy! How long can she keep playing with my hopes to hold baby goats???

Sounds like she has the Doe Code mastered.
Being this is a big holiday weekend she is waiting for the moment when everyone will be off having fun to sneak the babies out.

It can be minutes or weeks until kidding with those symptoms. Don't worry and just enjoy the suspense.

Well im not going to be any help seeing as she is playing lig tricks with you, but I was going to mention (& as far as I know they havent been tested on goats yet), but I believe Mare Stare has some type of PH test strips you can buy for around $13. They are intended for horses, but basically what you do is put a drop of milk on one of the strips & compare the PH levels & how high or low the levels are can be an indicator of how close they are to foaling/kidding. Since they arent tested on goats yet I figured I would give them a try next kidding season then let MS know if they work for me or not, but since it hasnt happened yet...

Then again if your doe is really close she will kid before you get the strips xP.

BTW FYI this isnt really a thread till there are pictures ;).

In case your interested here are the links to those strips: Strips and Instructions

PS come to think of it this just became a kidding race. Ive bought a doe from a friend, but I cant bring her home till she has her kids & their weaned since I only bought the doe. She is, & has been, as big as a mansion, has had due dates as early as a month ago, & is 10+ days past her last due date (friend is pretty sure she wrote down the wrong date the last time). Anyways she also has a huge, but not strutted udder, & low small ligs...no imminent kidding...a month later xD. Said doe needs to quit being a smart aleck & kid already. Anyways we can be frustrated together lol :p.

PSS I probably would've beat hubby with a shovel for a comment like that xD.

Well she wasnt intrested in food this morning. & is still pretty puffy in the backend. im letting her roam the yard & she just wants to lay down. So fingers crossed ill have baby pics by this afternoon. I thought she was hollowed out last nite...nothing compared to now though. If it wasnt 100+ outside id be sitting outside with her nonstop, & if I didnt know for a fact that my hubby would joyfully kill me she be inside in the airconditioned house lol. After bringing in a sick, bottlecalf hubby put his ftreEoot down on livestock in the house lol.
