... and we had our first great win last weekend at S.Florida. My daughter's 15 mo Nigerian Dwarf got Best Jr Nigerian in show in both the open and youth shows. The youth show was combined, so the Sr doe got the title, and I'm not sure in the open since the numbers were close, but if not we have one more chance at our state fair in Feb before she freshens. Either way, we are thrilled.

The state fair is the most time consuming show because of all the youth things (record books, posters, tests, etc) and it's only my daughter's second year at 10, so no rest for the weary right now. Oh, and she does poultry the second weekend so it's doubly crazy.

Three shows down, three or four more to go.

Thanks for asking.

We had the State Fair the begining of Feb. My daughter took second in dairy goat showmanship. She took her two of her three goats (Trixie aged out at over 2 and still had to months until kidding) and 5 goats that belong to her "goat mentor" who she bought her Trixie and a new doeling from. The grade (Ober/Nubian) doe in milk she took took a Best of Breed in the pay show! Whoo hooo. It was her first time managing a goat in milk at a show and she did awsome. Orchid her ND got 3rd and was VERY pregnant, so that's pretty decent since she was waddling. It's a 4 day show with LONG days and she took a 6 hour nap the first day back home. Her poster and record book got As, and she did will on the skillathon test and got second in goat judging. (Then she did the same for her poultry the next week!)

Had a Nigerian only show March 8. Orchid gor a 3rd and a 4th in the 2 ring show. Lots of goats and again she was very pregnant so we didn't expect her to do well, but we were there with our 4H group anyway doing concessions.

We went to a local non-ADGA show an hour away a couple weeks ago. Daughter got $375 and a belt buckle ($100 went to gas/borrowed goats.) Boys (7&5) got $75 and $55. Gotta love little youth pay shows.

The two oldest are going to another non-ADGA youth show with goat friends next weekend and I'm staying home with Orchid and Trixie. Orchid should have her babies a few days before and Trixie will be close.

Out last show until October is an independant ADGA 3 ring show 2 hours away. Our first show with our own goats in milk. :)
