I am inching closer to starting our tiny breeding program. I want to know, those that have tried it, how the GOS/Tamworth crosses have performed for you? We have a young Tamworth boar and GOS gilt. I will be putting them together in the next few weeks. He is 7 months old and she will be 6 months old in a couple days. I know that the GOS tend to grow slower and it is evident in a side-by-side comparison.

Well, they have been together for about a week and she must have been in estrus because he did his best to consumate the relationship. Hopefully it took but I am ceritan that it will take another cycle.

We got our first litter of piglets on 12-15-14 from the Old Spot(dam) x Tamworth(sire) cross. They are a beautiful looking set of piglets! She had 10. Eight have made it and are thriving outside with no additional heat. She initially had 3 males and 7 females(one female we will keep back for breeding stock since she is an F1 hybrid and looks great!). She is a great first time mother and is careful to lay down/get up/nurse...... I definitely want to keep Old Spots here on the farm......
