Hey there,
I'm from the Okanagan area of British Columbia - hot summers and very cold winters. Great for growing fruit and making wine.
I currently have 10 sheep - one almost two year old greedy wether who will be heading to the butcher in a couple months; two ram lambs (5 and 7 months), one a charrollais-katahdin cross, the other a shropshire-texel(ish) cross; and half a dozen ewes - 3 commercial black ewes, two giant rambouillet-suffolks, 1 katahdin, one suffolk-style, not purebred.
I'm looking into doing some breeding for farm tax purposes, as well as just because I enjoy sheep more than a lot of the animals I've raised as a kid and an adult. I find it very therapeutic to be among a throng of animals looking up at you (usually for food, but sometimes for a back scratch),
Anyhoo, I'm looking for all the good advice I can get, and am getting lots already, so thanks to those who've contributed. One day I hope to be on the 'experienced' side and be able to offer the same!
