Greetings,
I just got a
1.5 yr old Nigerian Dwarf Buck
& a 4 yr old Nigerian Dwarf Buck.

Today is there first day together.
They are from different farms.

They have been playing / butting for hours and one has a bit of
blood, a spec, near where the horns come out of the head.

I separated them and they still seem to want to do nothing but
bump heads, even through the fence!

Just wondering what would be considered
a normal time spent throughout the day
bumping heads for bucks..?

and when it is going to be considered
a problem where they just can't run together.

ie. seeing the young ones leg caught in the others horns
as they try to pull apart... :(

Also, if I wether a pee drenched, runs from people,
4 yr old Buck... what changes can I expect to see?

THANK YOU!

It is probably going to take a while for the boys to sort out who is boss and stuff. As far as whethering the one male, you probably won't see a whole lot of change. Since he is 4, there are habits now instead of just instinct. So he may continue to pee on himself. But if you don't want him breeding the girls, then do it. He may calm down a bit or he may not. That one is a wait and see kind of deal.

Thanks for the words of enlightenment!

As the sun shines on them now,
they are both a few feet apart, resting in the sun...

I will watch the dynamics now knowing it
is all part of being in a herd.

The 4yr old was penned next to plenty doe's,
so he is amazingly saturated and crusted with urine!

Do you think the smell will subside, as there are no
does on this property and he is more in the sun
now...?

Also, ever heard of washing a buck, to give him (and us)
a fresh start?

I know they don't like water and I don't want to stress him.
Just thinking of him with his soft majestic coat and less of a smell.

I moved him here in our pick up and you guessed it...
All my clothes, gloves, and pick up bed all smell from
a distance away! Either way, we are willing to learn
ways of keeping our routine tending to them,
separate from our other clothing.

I will upload photos of them soon!

THANKS AGAIN!
