Welcome from eastern Tennessee, USA. I have cut back farming as I have aged. Used to have beef 25 or so head of cattle. At times over 60 Nubian goats, we used to show. Have had horses, geese, ducks, chickens, sheep, BCs & LGDs. At times been pretty well self sufficient with garden, dairy, beef.
Currently reside on two acres with 10 Nubian goats which provide milk, cheese, yogurt. Various chicken breeds, mostly French Blue and Black Copper Marans. One very rotten potbelly pig named Rita. One LGD named George who keeps varmints from killing everybody. One very loving, tolerant, talented DH of +22 years named David.
Before you buy goats find your local goat club and hang out with various breeds to see what you like. Most clubs meet monthly for social potluck and are family friendly. Check out www.adga.org
Goats have serious disease problems that can break your heart and contaminate premises. Sheep are same, too!!!! Avoid sale barn and buy from reputable breeder who is there to help mentor you!!
