My wife and I are also considering raising the occasional pig for our own pork. I'd like to have the occasional goose, but she doesn't like that idea. So I'm going to have to slowly warm her up to that idea :p

Hi I love our geese. They are a great outdoor alarm system to have for predators and other trespassers. Ours have their own small pen we move from place to place. The pen keeps them safe, out of trouble and from wandering off and if your wife is worried about aggression it prevents that too.

One nice breed to look at are the American Buff geese. They are a quieter breed that make excellent parents. :D

May want to re think that, Chickens are easier than rabbits, they need a small shed for a coop, with roost polls, and some nest boxes, and you can let them free range all day. Minumum imput with lots of out put

Hi Shelly May I have rabbits and my daughter has her chickens and we take care of each other stuff when necessary. Both are about the same on care and you have the best of both worlds! Both are full of beautiful varieties and fun to have.
Plenty of meat, eggs and two of the best manures to put in the vegie garden. :D
