We live in a 50 acre forest in Ontario, Canada and this spring got our first goats. We've had chickens for a few years but when we had the opportunity to get goats, snatched it up! The younger ones are so very cuddly!! And this fall we will be breeding our first doe to kid in the spring. Looking forward to learning lots and meeting new people!

We have 4 girls altogether. Our oldest is about 1.5 years, Deirdre, a dairy cross (alpine and probably saanen). Her adopted 4 month doeling is destined to be the boss the way she acts, her name is Elsa, she's a pure alpine. Then there are the almost-twins; Tilly and Tassy, boer crosses. They are so fluffy, and have the lovely droopy ears that Elsa and Deirdre lack :).

She is very lovable, even with her bossy, I-will-get-what-I want-when-I-want-it attitude (I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact we named her after a Disney Princess..?) The one that curls up in my lap and leans on my chest is Tassy though. That kid is an escape artist, she can fit herself, horns and all through a 5 inch gap! Love them to bits and can't wait to see them grow and mature! :)

They will totally suck you in, believe me. My husband refers to the whole experience as "goat entropy", but I love it: the stealing of gloves, the attempts to remove any and all pocket flaps, the I'm-gonna-get-all-up-in-your-grille attitude...I just love it. It puts me in a good mood every morning :celebrate

my Disney princess is Fiona, she is such a pill. i call her the ghost goat because she is white and can figure out how to squeeze thru the tiniest opening to get to where i am, and she is a good sized yearling. she thinks she deserves all the entitlement that goes with royalty.
