Hello, I am from Southeastern Kansas. We don't have goats yet, but we plan on getting some around next year. I have joined to learn more about what I will need for them and how to lay out the pen for when we get them. I do need to learn what types of goats will be best for what I will be getting them for and I also have an account on the sister sight of Backyard Chickens. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about goats in order to help make the best life for them when we get them!

Welcome from Wisconsin. You are so SMART for joining the group, learning, and researching about goats before bringing them home. I did the complete opposite. I jumped in head first into a rapid rushing river. It’s been a struggle the entire time. I wouldn’t return them for the world. I started with 8 brand new babies. Blood, sweat, $$$. I think at 10 weeks of age things are finally calming down. I can certainly tell you how to not do things. But there is so much really good knowledge and experience in this group. You are definitely starting out a really good way. Welcome to the world of goats. I have cried a few times. But I have laughed everyday that I’ve had my little guys. Goats are very therapeutic and good for the sole.

Welcome from Texas! I have Sheep. There is a great goat forum here, study past posts, there is tons of information in them. Ask questions no matter how dumb you might think they might be. If you don’t know, it is better to ask and learn.

Greetings and welcome to BYH Ember, from NE TX! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. You'll get to "meet" folks at the same time. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Oh, and we all love pics, so post them anytime you feel the need! Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this post & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
