There are sone real nice barns out there. I have seen some built next to the single wide trailer the folks preferred to live in so they could afford the gorgeous barn. Same folks driving a huge 3500 chevy or 350 ford quad cab 4x4 with duallies pulling a horse trailer that cost way more than the house trailer. To each their own. It is a little funny though.

SBC, you should have the barn that fits your needs and you would no longer have to hope for or dream of. There is something about a huge, cool looking barn that can hold, house, and store whatever, and you want to hang out in. You go ahead and build it, and here in abt 10-12 years I gotta guy that can come repaint it for ya. :woot

I have learned over the years, hoping for is a good thing but knowing and trusting God to give what He knows is needed is always going to work out better in the end.
I'm not into material things but I do like nice things or rather quality... but I can be content in all things. :) (even though sometimes I complain... I am reminded at all I have been blessed with and it reminds me to be thankful and grateful.) I've never been one to be impressed by what someone "has", I am more impressed by who they are.

I can see that in you. And, I am goofing around with you abt the barn. I love barns. It's been a long work day for me, and still have the normal feeding chores, etc. I am just sitting here unwinding a little, joking and "talking" with everyone.

LOL I didn't want you to think I was a hoity toity! ;)
It is funny though because I see what you are talking about all the time. I love it. It show people love what they do more than having stuff.
What good is big and fancy if it means you can't do the things you love.

Alot of the carport barns (the good ones- the kind where they come in and set it all up in a day- not the cheap walmart/harbor frieght ones) end up looking alot like the one above. They board the sides, put in doors etc.

I wouldn't want horse stall doors necessarily but I like the style.

We are going with the carport style as far as I know. We arent getting it from walmart..ha ha I didnt realize they even sold them. There are a few places around here that makes them. We went Friday to each of the places and got brochures and looked around. Not sure who we will go with yet. My husband and his best friend are going to finish putting up the sides after the company comes out and sets it up for us. His best friend has a ginormous barn and its made out of a carport. I think ours will end up being 20x12.

Check out all the pricings- we found when we were looking at them that the best pricing all together was the 22 X 26 I think....
I can't remember now but cost wise it was really surprising.
We wanted the extended legs and the other roof... can't remember what it was called.

Definitely go at least 2x bigger than you think you need.
You will end up having a few kids you will keep, want a kidding stall, and you will want a place walled off designated for milking.
Eventually you will move your buck out to a buck field too.

This was still in the construction phase. I have 6 5x5 kidding pens on the right. A 10' center aisle and then the doe pen on the left. We have built a 12x30 extension on the front for hay storage and to protect the inside from the rain. We will be building one on the back very soon. I have 40 goats in here, it is 30x40 and not big enough in the winter. And we have mild winters. Go as big as you can and and then go even bigger.
