Hey folks! I am currently captive in Issaquah, WA, but hope to escape to my property in Wauconda soon and start my herd of Scottish Highlander cattle. Anyone here keeping SHC?
I've been keeping chickens for a year, and honeybees for several years, and plan to expand on both. I look forward to scouring this forum for all the info I can find and sharing what I know with everyone. Till then...

Hello @Panama Red :welcome

So glad to have you here, Beautiful chickens. Look forward from learning more about you. :pop
Thanks for the welcome MrsKuhn. Adorable kids... maybe you can share your experiences with them and convince me they are not as destructive as I'm led to believe!

Welcome to BYH :frow Beautiful birds! I don't have experience with SHC, but a previous neighbour of ours down in Co Cork (Ireland) had some and really liked them.

Welcome from Ohio! I love the looks of the Scottish Highland Cattle, but personally don't want to deal with the horns...

Welcome from the Tyler, Texas area. We escaped from a town lot where I gardened in the front yard and had chickens in the back yard to 8 acres of paradise. We now have more chickens and sheep. Already had horses kept on land that we owned, sold that land and house in town and RAN!!!

I love SHC but they probably wouldn't like our Texas heat. There is a sign on a gate on the way to Tyler that proclaims SHC, but I have yet to see any at the fence.

I think the SHC can adapt to a hotter climate by shedding their hair, but that's part of their appeal to me.
Glad to hear of your escape, gives me hope! ;)
BTW, I work with a gal from Tyler. She can't wait to get back.
