We are raising our own meat bc our toddler has a rare allergic disorder and can't eat or touch corn (among several other things).
MCAS - Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
She has anaphylactic type of reactions bc her mast cells over react to things she eats touches and breathes.
Even grass fed meat isn't safe from the butcher bc of sprays required by the USDA. So after a long 2yrs of exhausting Drs who didn't have a clue we figured it out w one of 6 drs in the country that know this disease and can treat and manage it. So basically within the last yr we went from having a couple horses and a goat to all this. But grass fed lamb was her first meat pass and she passed duck eggs too!

Oh man... Sorry your daughter has this rare disorder but I'm glad you've finally got it (sorta) figured out. I'm sure there will be more things to discover over time but it's good that you're identifying things that she's safe to have.

Wow that is awful but great that you are able to raise safe food for her! Do you know what the USDA butchers spray? I've never heard of that. We now raise and butcher all of our own meat with the rare exception on buying local beef on special occasions (so expensive!)

Being allergic to corn limits about 90% of the grocery store.

Lactic Acid is sprayed to prevent bacteria growth and it's a by product of corn fermentation.
