Goats that have healthy rumens do not need probiotics. Those are generally for when you have a goat "down" or on antibiotics etc.

Many breeders use craigslist LOL. Just some don't want people to know they use craigslist. Silly really, they won't put their farmname or website and sometimes they put their spouses name... it does get kind of funny as if you know goats you know whose kid or doe is from where.
I use CL, and my vets and word of mouth... I have had some of the best clients from CL. We screen pretty hard though. ;)

CD&T you can get from any farmstore; Tractor Supply is common throughout the US.

Jeffers is also a good place to order from-

They look lovely and well cared for. The red one is especially cute!
Both look very nice!:)

It sure will be exciting come kidding time for you!
Do you have any idea what day they were bred?
Here is a great link to goat gestation calendar. I like this one best.

Nigerians tend to go on the 145-150 day side whereas most Standards are to the other end around 155. That is why they do the 150 day schedule.

Do you plan on milking the does? :)

Kids are stinking rotten cute! Especially when you bring them in the house and their hooves go pitter patter on the wood floors! It is the cutest sound!

Welcome from NC - I don't have goats so I will follow you and just do what you do when mine get here!

I found an entire herd for sale on craigslist in my area. I was tempted, but it was too many and seriously... I have no idea what I am doing :) Getting 5 does and 2 boys that might have been bred! Eeek forget that LOL

I am excited for you and your new babies can't wait til they are mommas. Now to lurk and follow all links posted ;)

Glad that your dogs are gentle. I have two Border Collies that I wouldn't trust for a minute with my goats. They might not mean to kill or injure but I know that they could literally run them to death in play. Those dogs are never allowed with my goats. On the other hand I have two Livestock Guardian Dogs that live with the goats 24/7. It is their job to keep them safe and they do it well.

Are there predators where you live? Are your goats safe, especially at night? Stray dogs can be as much of a problem as wild animals so please be careful. One BYH member lost all of hers to a stray Pit Bull last week, don't want to see that happen again.

Don't sweat not doing all the research ahead of time. I brought home 3 goats in 2008 and knew NOTHING, I was actually afraid of them. And as @Southern by choice mentioned, I am now building a dairy to fuel my addiction. I was lucky that I got healthy goats, (also from Craigslist) so it can happen.

Hello there. I'm fortunate to have wonderful labs that are so sweet. They are in the barn at night right now. So , I hope they are safe. We are thinking about moving them to their own area .. We have predators and lost 6 chickens not long ago. I guess they will always get locked in the barn at night. I'd die if anything happened to them!!!
