I learned how to ride taking lessons - but I learned how to catch a horse in a pasture when I was maybe 7? Where my dad hunted they told me I could ride anything I could catch. Hmmmmmmmmmm maybe that's why I "get" herding - self taught sorta.

I learned to ride by jumping off the fence on to the back of a passing horse or cow. Well didn't really learn to ride that way more or less how not to get trampled when u fell off in 3 jumps.

Yep rode to church in the back of the truck most summers. One time a guy told my dad he wouldn't have us ride in the back he said its either that or we don't come at all

I learned to ride bareback, on an old mare that would only go so far before running back to the barn.
I knew that mare!!!!

🤣🤣

Actually used to ride the neighbors pony around the block. Trot around the first 2 corners, Turbo Speed around the other 2 & into her back yard. We didn't know about helmets but wore winter coats in case we fell off on the road.
