Looks like intro's are due! My fiance and I live on 10 wonderful acres in the boonies of Central Cali 45 minutes from the nearest town, just the way two anti social homesteading wanna be's like it! We currently raise rabbits and have chickens periodically, and in the very near future will be adding sheep! We have an amazing Great Pyrenees and spoiled but wonderful farm dog Jack russel mix Tucker. The star of our show though is our 4 month old son Titus, who has the unfortunate luck of being born to first generation farmers/homesteaders! We hope soon to have our gardens growing, sheep grazing, and already have our rabbits breeding with high hopes for the future! As is expected when one goes down this trail we've found ourselves in a snag a few times, and so thought it would be beneficial to join a group that has some insight and advice to offer when we do encounter those hurdles, but hey speed bumps are part of the fun right?! Right?? Anyways just when you thought Cali was only full of blond beach going surfers here we are! Happy to be here!

Welcome from NW Mississippi!....:frow
We have several members from out that way. Something that ya can do, is to add your general location to your profile banner. When you have a question, or looking for advice, it is one less question that will have to be answered before an answer can be formulated....things are quite different here than there...and location and region can become important info to consider. We have goats, chickens, ducks, and cats here and are looking to expand a little, hopefully this time next yr. It will be very interesting to keep up with your changes and developments too....again...:welcome

Hi, and welcome from Texas! Sounds like you'll fit in just fine. Congrats on your critters, but especially on Titus!

Greetings and welcome to BYH from NE TX. Just moved here from the front range in CO to make it easier to do the self sufficient thing myself. So sorry to hear you're trying to be self sufficient in the liberal state of CA... Nothing like making things more difficult. How are you able to afford it? :hide Anyway, I'm jaded. There are a lot of great folks here who are always ready to help when someone needs it. Hope you'll make yourself at home and browse around. There's a wealth of info and knowledge shared in the various threads. Congrats on your son and your start! Hope you'll share some pics as we're all pic addicts here.

Welcome from Ohio! What kind of sheep are you looking to get? And will they be for fiber, meat, milk, pets?

Welcome from some anti-social homesteaders in NH! Well, not completely anti-social but crowd-avoiding anyway! Can't wait to hear how your plans progress!

@DutchBunny03 we raise American Chinchillas, as well as New Zealand cross and Californians :) We'll probably focus more on the Californians for meat but like the Chins and NZ's for fur and because the Chins are just so interesting :)
@Latestarter that is why we live away out in the boonies, its the only place we could afford lol. Honestly we hate this state to pieces but it's just not in the cards to leave at the moment, we were lucky though to at least find aplace where we could get our dream lifestyle started and then hopefully continue it on a much larger piece of property with a our hand built little farm house in a different state that isnt so freakin socialist lol. Pus being so far out means we get away with things this fine state I'm sure would frown upon lol
@norseofcourse we will be getting Dorpers and they will be raised for meat, as well as to give our great pyrenees a new job, he's losing his mind since we got rid of the free range chickens lol
