We could help you more if you gave us a hint as to what you would like to know, learn, share; what you have, want to do with them and so forth. Also, what is your current/future property like for size, condition, terrain, weather? Your general animal exposure/knowledge may play into answers being helpful or not.
Goats come in all sizes, colors, purposes, traits, & personalities. Do you have a goal in mind? Milk, meat, both? Pets? Companions? Do you have any now? Where you live can make a huge difference for you and goats and replies.
Yep, a LOT of goaties & info. But you need to give us an idea of where/ how we can help you most. We're a pretty friendly group and many here have extensive knowledge of goats and a whole lot more! So, how can we be of more help to you?
Greetings and welcome to BYH from NE TX! So glad you joined us. My answer to your direct question would be pretty much the same as Mini's above. You really need to be a bit more specific as to what help you're seeking... Your question would be like me saying "hey, I'm new to the automotive world, can you help me fix my car?" There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find there. You'll also get to "meet" many of the goat folks here by doing so. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (but... provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!
PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
I have 3 goats one boer one nigerian dwarf and a myotonic . I leave in North Carolina I had the boer and the myotonic but when I brought home the Nigerian he had some green snott coming out his nose i wormed him and gave him some vitamins and now my boer goat is like that now I have had the Nigerian for about 2 weeks now what can I do to help them
Well, a few things. Sounds like some respiratory issues going on. As LS suggested, some antibiotics might help and pen is generally acceptable for such issues. If mine, I'd dose both for several days. Watch #3 for same issues as it seems they are all together.
In the future, you may want to consider a quarantine of any new stock added to be sure they are not sick, and preventing the spread to others. Even if they appear fine, often a move can create a bloom of bacteria they may be carrying or pick up at a new place. I'd also suggest deworming of any newbies (which you did) and again in 2 weeks. You may want to give your other two a hit of dewormer at that time, in case
