I just saw you are in Maryland.
We reserved a buckling as a future herdsire from a farm in Maryland.
The little guy was born last week, so we will be picking him up this summer.
That's great! Where did you reserve him from? Is it a breeder? Or did they just have the one to sell? I am very envious of you haha. I think if I were to be given the chance to breed NDs I would just quit my job and never do anything else for the rest of my life. That would make me very happy indeed!

The farm is called Sweet Garden Nigerians. My wife met the owner at last years ADGA National Show and just fell in love with this doe.
Reserved a buckling from her for her next kidding.
She kidded last week with quads 3 bucks an 2 Does, but sadly 2 bucklings were DOA. The one who is alive is ours since we were first. He is doing well. She sent us a video yesterday of him bouncing around.

It's coming up May 6 and 7, at the Howard County fairgrounds. Sheep, sheepdog demonstrations, shearing, spinning, knitting, weaving, vendors, educational seminars (some free, some cost), food and more. I've never been there but hope to go someday.

It used to be free but I think there's a $5 admission charge now (yes, but only for ages 18 and over).

-- Thanks! I will look into them as a possibility down the road. That's really great that they so interactive with their buyers. Glad you've got a healthy little guy to look forward to!

:th Welcome from beautiful NE Texas :welcome It's so nice to have a (quasi) newby join us here on BYH!

We used to live just North of York, PA & we traveled down your way (Baltimore & DC) many a times. :p Maryland has some beautiful countryside!

We have 4 Nigerian Dwarf wethers, and I adore them. In fact, I was just loving on Leon, our goat king. Don't tell the others, but he is my favorite! :love We have had these 4 little boys for 2+ years now and just graduated to 2 bred LaMancha dairy goats about a month ago. One is due on the 23rd this month & the other is due on the 11th My dream is to eventually have some MiniMancha's.

In addition to our 6 goats, we have 18 laying hens, 12 roosters, that are waiting to be butchered - if we can ever find the time, a turkey hen,10 ducks and 2 LGDs (Livestock Guardian Dogs). Life is never dull on Devinviolet Acres.

Our goal like many, here on BYH is to be self sustaining. And we are also finding that getting there isn't cheap. :th
