Hi everyone,

I'm from SW Pennsylvania and recently acquired three goats.

I'm relatively new to goats and have two doe Nubian/Boer crosses and a Nubian/Boer buck.

They are the only hoofed animals here on the farm as the others are various forms of poultry, ornamental fowl and exotics.

The girls will be kidding towards the end of May. This is their first freshening. Couldn't wait to just see if this happened, so I had blood tests done to determine this for sure.

Glad to be here and look forward to learning and sharing.

G'day and welcome aboard, the Nubian Boer X is interesting ,was it a Boer buck over a Nub doe? What were the doe's joined to ?....

How close is the breeding of the young buck to the does?

The Nubs produce really nice creamy milk and the Boers put a lot more meat on the kids......YUM,YUM.

I'm sure you will enjoy this site, they are a great bunch..............

I can only answer part of your question as I really don't know all the details of my goats.
First of all, none of the goats are related. The two does came from the same home and quite frankly, the woman wasn't too knowledgeable about the goats.
Livie, is very Boer looking in both body and color. Hannah has Boer qualities, but her face and ears favor the Nubian, but with more of a Boer body.
Eugene, the buck, favors the Nubian more so than the Boer, but is smaller in stature. Quite honestly, he may be more removed from just a Boer/Nubian breeding but I really can't tell.

There is a farm close to me that breeds this combination of breeds intentionally as they say the same thing that you did...good milk and a body for meat if that is what you desire.

When I'm able, I'll post pictures of them when my trial period is done.
