We're on an acre and a half in East TN. We started out growing vegetables, and by the end of last spring we had two beehives and two baby dairy goats - an alpine and a mini saanen. This spring we hope to add more hives, rabbits, and of course some chickens as soon as we figure out which breeds and where to get them. We're probably going to need more property soon.

I forgot to mention - we also have an English setter, a corgi mix, a cavalier King Charles spaniel (who is small enough to keep disappearing in the snow we have right now), and unofficial ownership of the neighbor's cat.

Welcome Mountain Goat. I don't know how far east you are but we went with our neighbor to pick up his poultry from Poultry Hollow in Brush Creek. It's a mom and pop operation but their selection is very good. I don't have a link to their web site but a search for Poultry Hollow will turn it up.

Thanks everyone! Mike CHS, I'm in Greene County so it's not too far from me. We checked them out online and we're thinking about picking up some laying hens so we can jump right in. I have a friend that raises Copper Maran, Chanticler, and Cream Legbars. She's offered us eggs and the loan of an incubator, but I like the idea of having some older ones to go with that as a security against newbie failure and also to get eggs sooner. I'm happy to hear positive things about them, since I haven't seen their operation.
