Yesterday evening, my husband and I bought 2 fainting goat weanlings (a buck and a doe...purebreds) primarily for brush clearing and the kids to have for pets. I grew up on a small farm in KY with beef cattle, never been around goats. We have 4 human kids (18, 17, 3 and 2), a super spoiled Russian Blue kitteh (she's spayed) and a mutt (german shepherd/malamute/lab mix). We both are OTR flatbed truck drivers. Looking forward to learning about these goats here! :)

Welcome to BYH! Nice to have you here. :frow

The goats are very pretty!

I thought I should warn you because you are new and may not know this. You should keep your bucks and does separate other then breeding season. Fainting goats can get pregnant as early as 3-4 months. It can kill your doe come kidding time because she isn't large enough to kids. I cannot stress this enough, I see it happen to newbies often because the breeder never told/warned them :hit

Goats are cool critters, I love mine!:love

Thanks for that info goat whisperer! Had no clue they would come in season so young. Unless we are outside, they are kept seperate. Am in love with these critters. They are like dogs, the male especially lol! If he thinks you have food, he follows like a shadow. The female has been named Snickers (her colors look like a snickers bar!) And the male has been named Twinkie (brown with a cream filling). Next additions will be guineas/chickens and rabbits. Snickers has already fell over 4 or 5 times, Twinkie zero. Theyre funny!

Well now a big fellow Texan welcome to you. Sit a spell, grab that there iced tea and put your feet up. Gotta watch out for them there goaties as they will grow on you and you'll start figuring out how to have more of the little creatures. I know! Just ask me1 I'm "down" to 20 plus 3 kids and a pregnant doe with no intentions of kidding, ever, she likes it that way.

Rabbits are great, nice creatures, quiet and quite tasty. Chickens are fun, very entertaining.

Glad to have you and your family here!
