Hi, my name is Jessa. I've been keeping chickens for 3 years and I currently have 8.
I have a dog, 2 cats, and a rabbit. I'm getting goats in a couple months so that is why I'm here.
Thanks,
Jessa
Hi! Tim here in Washington, US. Leicester Longwool sheep and a few chickens. We just cleared out our herd of goats and mixed sheep, are building a second barn and focusing on the Leicester breed. They are near extinct..about 1000 breeding sheep left so we are one of the farms working to keep them going and build up their numbers again. ewes weigh in at about 220-250lbs, rams about 300-360lbs (depending on the time of year) and they are full of personality and very docile. The goats were lovely but they cost us over 3 miles of fencing to goat-proof our property and they still just gracefully jumped the fence any time they felt lonely! On the plus side they are delicious! We have 8 chickens (1 rooster) for eggs and they are fun but sure make a mess in the barn if they get out of the coop!
Im new here too so welcome and nice to meet you!

Hi @Legamin I'm glad to have you join us. I raise Katahdin hair sheep, but have long admired the Leicester Longwool sheep. I'm thrilled that you are working to save this breed. Would you start a thread in the Breeds and Breeding Sheep part of the forum, please title it Leicester Longwool so that anybody doing a search for this breed can find your posts. I would love to read more about this breed and see pictures of your sheep.
Welcome to the forum!
