We found one of our little doelings stuck in the hay feeder this morning, her hind end was stuck/trapped inside the feeder, and her front end was outside the feeder (with her feet on the ground). Don't know how long she was stuck, possibly all night with her back end stuck between the bars above her.
She is able to stand, but not bear a lot of weight on the left side, I wonder if the circulation was cut off too long, or if some kind of nerve damage occurred. Any advice on what to do or watch for?
Her mother is not allowing her to nurse at this point. Will she get over it?
We brought her inside the house since it's snowing and blowing outside and fed her a bottle of goat's milk from our milk does.
Thanks for reading!

Im not expert but maybe you could fashion a splint to support her leg until she is strong enough to stand. Idk just a though I dont own goats just trying to help :p

Welcome to BYH @ypigs

I would give your doeling some Ibuprofen(liquid) – 2x children’s dose by weight orally (Do NOT use more than 48 hours) to help with any swelling, pain and inflammation from being stuck.

I would keep trying to put her back with her dam, but if she won't accept her then you'll have a bottle baby on your hands.

Best wishes. Please keep us updated.

You can try holding the damn and letting the little one drink. If she still doesn't' accept her, do it her next 2 feedings. If she still doesn't accept her then she probably never will. X2 on the ibuprofen, I have used it before on my dogs and works well. Is it swollen? Is she still acting fine otherwise, does it seem to hurt her when it touches the ground or does she kind of ignore it and not use it much? Good luck! I'll be thinking about her!
