There have been times when we are super busy and do not have time to split a colony that is bursting at the seams...and we have actually stacked 5+ supers on colonies...it doesn't hurt, but over the years I started to notice a pattern where some of the super large colonies began to get hot [aggressive]. I no longer like to do triples, quads, or 5-6 boxes stacked on a super colony. They simply get way to strong and aggressive...

Bees aren't aggressive they become more defensive. I think in the case of large colonies they seem more defensive. But the reality is the larger the colony the more guard bees they have to defend the healthy colony.
