I'd call a vet. If he hasn't been eating or drinking he'll get weaker and weaker the longer it goes on..The vet can probably give him fluids with some nutrition in them and he may perk right up. Good luck. Keep us posted.

we did call a vet and asked them and they said it was more than likely that he was getting old. But would there be a way that we could do it our selves. we just dont want him to hungry. I can hear his belly but he wont eat. I was thinking we could make him eat.

Have his teeth been floated recently? Is the horse still pooping and urinating?

For a 26 year old horse, it just may be time.

At the barn I board at, there was a 27 yr old QH who just stopped eating one day. Vet was called out. The old horse's ligaments that hold his internal organs up were starting to deteriorate. Nothing they could do but put him down.

try taking rabbit pellets and reg. oatmeal and soaking them in hot water and add a bit of mollassas to make a mush. this is what my aunt gave her 30 year old gelding when he could no longer eat hay and regular grain. good luck.
