I noticed yesterday evening and all today so far that my young ewe had a squinty left eye.
I thought it was because of the sun that was shining in her eye, but even in the shade it was like that.

Good thing she doesn't mind being handled, because I looked at her eye and it's cloudy in her eye.
Not swollen or red around her eye, but I was looking at pictures, and it looks most like pink eye.
Is there any antibiotic paste I can put in her eye or something?

I remember when my neighbors dog had pink eye, I had helped her hold him down while she put goop in his eye twice a day.

Any suggestions?
THANKS!

MaryEllen has it :tongue
I think the little ones are just taking a lot out of her right now!
I'm boosting her intake and I plan on worming her tonight, just in case.

Both her lambs have soremouth though, could that be related to her eye problem?

Poor MaryEllen... I've had pink eye before back in like.... 2nd grade and it was AWFUL.

:hugs So sorry Parsnip that your critters are having some issues and I know you want to do what is best for them. Had one lamb several years ago with those scabs on her mouth...it is a virus and runs its course...it is also contagious, however my sister in law was mouth kissing that lamb right on the lesions and never got it. Have not dealt with pink eye here, but have heard local sheep owners talk about the miracle of raw honey to treat that. Good luck with your sheepies and hope all issues clear up quickly!

You are certainly having trouble with that darn sore mouth virus.
Hopefully it ends soon.
Your older sheep have been exposed thus formed some degree of antibody. The youngster's have not.
I have heard of it compared to chicken pox.

I had a MAJOR problem with pink eye last year....it went round and round the sheep for months. I used between 1 and 5 mls of tetracycline injection (depending on body weight). I find it next to impossible to apply ointments to several lambs/ewes either daily or twice daily, whereas a one off injection works like magic.

As for sore mouth......a real hobby horse as I caught it a few years back from drenching ewes without wearing gloves.....PROTECT YOURSELVES WITH GLOVES. It is VERY painful if caught.

If paddock is dusty then get it out of there as long as the problem exists.
If it's really pink eye then use that spray to treat Pink Eye 3 times a day. I treated a ewe once that was blind on both eyes and after 2 weeks of treatment both eyes where completely clear again.

Her eye is basically back to normal now?
Not as bad as it was.
I'm thinking maybe she poked her eye on something, and scratched it.

Thank you for the answers though!
I'll keep an eye on the problem :p
