The past couple days I have noticed that Walter has this snorting noise when he breaths. Mostly it is when he lower his head to eat that's when I hear it. I kept my ears open...and today he sounded worst.... He sounded like a pig...even just standing. He still eats well and plays well. There isn't any runny nose/eyes nor coughing/sneezing. In fact, that little sucker escaped...with full energy! I can't take his tempt because I am not comfortable doing it. He is still pretty wild and I can't do it myself either.... I have made an appointment with the Vet for this afternoon. Hope it isn't anything serious. :(

I wish I could help. I think brining him to the vet is the best thing you can do.

On our way to the vet, Walter was quiet...no snorting noise. Go figured. later on when we were sitting in the car waiting...he snorted softly.... Well, the vet said his temperature is normal but she can definitely hear some noise as he breaths. Now Walter is on antibiotic for 7 day. My breeder felt it might have been allergy or hay dust...not respiratory issue. Well, I didn't know and all I was thinking was that he can't get worst...especially over the weekend when the vet's office may be closed. Breeder feels many vets don't know goats either. I guess I'll see if Walter snorting stops. I just want it to go away....

If the snorting continues past the antibiotic treatment, you could always try some liquid benedryl (at the dosage by weight) to rule out the allergy possibility.

His still snorts. This morning has some runny nose and sneezed a few times. I am hoping it is really allergy because I hated the idea that we put him on antibiotic if it really was allergy. He still plays and eats and is even more mischievous. This afternoon he headbutted the dog and played with my husband being very cute.

Anyway, I will try benedryl if he still snorts and also give him the probiotic to help his tummy bacteria...not that we have destroyed with antibiotic....

He had four shots so far and later today, his 5th. He is still playing and eating....except just now, he sneezed and he blew out white color mucus....
