I would not advise those collars for long term use, I had a doe get hers caught in a tree and hang herself. If anything, I'd use the plastic ones that break if they pull hard on them

They are young wethers, very active & out in the wild pasture. So, collars won't work - too many things to get caught up on.

i was wondering about this, too.

We plan to only have 3 goats. 2 does and a whether.

I wanted to be able to have them returned to me if they get out and can't figure out how to get home. Tatooing doesn't really seem feasible for that purpose unless they are found by another goat person who would understand what the tatoo was all about.

I have seen lots of pics of goats with ID tags, and I wonder about the tags getting caught on things and causing rips in their goat ears.

Then there is a collar that might choke them...it's hard to decide what to do...

ear tags can get torn out but the fact is, most dont. I have about a 98% retention rate. people will carry on about all the tags getting ripped out, but to be honest, most of those people fall into two categories - either they had one rip a tag and panicked and so refuse to have anything to do with tags in the rest of their goats - or they have never had ear tags in the first place
