Hi! Tammy from Muldrow Home Farm. We have a 56 acre working farm in South East Texas, that has 40 goats, 5 Donkeys, 6 Alpaca and 100 Chickens. We love learning and sharing our knowledge. Our actual business on the farm is Beekeeping. We keep over 600 hives locally year round and love what we do! Thanks for the ability to learn from this forum!

Our goats are varied. We just bought what we liked at an auction last year. It was a rough start but we learned fast and hard. We did buy one Kandahar Billy from a friend and we have one partial Boer female (our herd queen). They are the 2 pictured. But here are more.... We had an amazing kidding year so far....6 sets of twins and one singke....all without help and all healthy!! We are beyond excited!

Welcome from the Tyler area! I’ve lived in southeast Texas most of my life, spending 30 years in Livingston. Where are you located?

Bees! There is a beekeeper in Livingston that has a good business. Look up Rudy’s Honey in Livingston Tx. We buy honey by the gallon, it’s dark and delicious. Would love to try some of yours! What is the mainstay flowers for your bees? Surprisingly for Rudy’s Honey it is Chinese Tallow trees. I hate those with a vengeance but they do make good honey.

There is a newbie beekeeper about 2 miles from us, I was wondering where all the bees came from that swarmed our clover. I try to live as organically as possible, if I spray the garden with anything I do it late in the evening after the bees have quit working. Got to protect the bees!

Yes! Chinese Tallow is the main nectar flow in South Texas, East and West. Beekeepers have to love those trees because it carries our bees through! We have 4 distinct nectar flows in our area, Orange, Texas. In Feb-April we have Clover, if it gets cold enough, then May-July we have Tallow, if the rain doesn't do us in and then we have a derth, where we have no major nectar flow......starting in Sept we usually get the fall gardens and some wildflower nectar......that dies off about October and we will get a good Golden Rod flow through December, if the weather holds. Golden Rod is a solid honey but it is an acquired taste.

We are very excited about our Farm!! Also, excited about this forum. Found The Goat Spot last year and just love it!!

I got some honey from a friend in Iowa, it was pale in color and tasted like wildflowers smell. Honey is such an interesting product.
