Can you take propane from the large tank (250 gallon?) and put it in the smaller tanks used for cooking? Is there some kind of connection? We have tried all manner of wording on Amazon and come up with things like connecting the small tank to the burner but not connecting the large ti the small.

Any ideas?

Go fill the small tank somewhere else. The big tank is pressurized. You don’t want to mess with that. The risk is not worth it.

It can be done but you need to go through your propane supplier to get things done properly and to make sure you don't do something that will prevent them from filling the storage tank in the future such as safety concerns.

Thank you all, especially @2Relk, for the responses. The powers that be read through all of it and I think has decided to back burner the project. No pun intended. If it is determinded to renew interest I will let you all know. Meanwhile, between you and me, keep your fingers crossed so the project becomes a very distant memory.

I have done it. I am only 12 but when my parents tell me to fill the small tank from the large I either put our propane hose in both and the air pressure evens them out. Or I can attach the propane hose to a nosel that my dad put in when the house was being built. We are very weird and that is a compliment!
