Ivermec Plus Burns?

I gave my new doe a SQ dose of Ivermec Plus today. I have given her Safe Guard a month ago and she still had a medium worm load, so I wanted to give her something else. And she just screamed and screamed. I felt so bad for her. I made sure it was just under the skin no muscle, no vein. Was also thinking it hurt because it is so thick. Has anyone had this happen?

I used Ivomec Plus injectable on all my goats last year and I didn't have a problem with any of them. Maybe a tiny bit of pain but nothing serious like that. Hope she feels better!

We have always given the ivermectin plus orally never injectable. Our one vet says there are more reactions to injecting it.
I will say it is very effective.
We have used on new animals coming in while in quarantine.
The most recent was a buckling loaded with a 2200 EPG and only 33 lbs, small for his age... anyway 1cc for 30-50lbs, knocked the worm count down to 50 EPG.

We've injected Ivomec a couple of times but not as a wormer. It did seem to burn.

Aren't there drenches for goats? They have drenches for sheep...... Just wondering. I am not a goat person.

I've read not to give orally to them if they have a heavy worm load. I've also read it should be given 3x 10 days apart. I was thinking I would do the next two doses orally...

For the flukes it has to be 3 doses at 10 days apart because it only kills the last stage.
If not for flukes then I would try 2 doses 10 days apart and if you run your own fecals see what it shows a week after the 2nd dose.
Obviously you should do what your vet told you. I have 3 vets and each one has there own protocol, ideas on dosing, as well as dosage range etc.

I have heard the same thing about NOT giving it orally too.

What was your vets recommendation? I am curious, I am always amazed at how there is never "one" answer.

Her fecals were stomach worms. He didn't say anything about liver flukes. He said to give safe guard again 3 days in a row and withhold feed. But he has also told me not to give my buck alfalfa.... and when I asked him about CL and CAE testing he had never heard of either one.
