Wow!

the ivermectin plus is usually used for flukes or suspected flukes.
Ivermectin or "ivermec" (generic normectin) is usually a good dewormer.
Many say Safeguard is useless by I think it depends on several factors... region and individual herds and animals. Safe guard is still very effective for many if used properly.

There again depending on which vet .... the protocol is often very different.
I like the 3 day safeguard treatment. If there are tapeworms the dosage is NOT the same. It is a much higher dose for tapes.
If you already gave the ivermectin plus then check the fecal in 7-10 days. ASK for an EPG Count.

How is your girl doing? Is she sore or tender?
What kind of goat is she? :)

I am getting my own microscope to do my own fecals since my vet charges $20 a pop. I got it off ebay for the price of about 1 1/2 fecals.

She's a mini nubian. I didn't have a chance to give her any love today and see how she is feeling. Just ran in long enough to feed and water her. She has had a rough go since I brought her home. She was very neglected before I got her. She was very underweight and hooves terribly overgrown, wormy, and she has a lump under her chin that has had me freaked out. She has been in quarintine all this time. I've gotten some weight on her and her hooves back in order and been keeping a close eye on her lump. It is just left of center in the little triangle between her jaw bones. More toward her neck. (I hope I'm describing location well enough) It is relatively small compared to CL lumps I've seen pics of on the internet. about the size of a larger marble and not soft looks like it may be losing hair.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww.

If the lump is losing hair it is more than likely CL. Not all CL lumps will burst either. The problem with that is then they can also go internal.
If you know how to draw blood from the jugular than draw 4-6 cc and send it to UC Davis. If you are out of state it is $14.50 +shipping. They can tell you how to package. The results will show you titer levels... which will tell you neg or positive and if positive will give you the titer level. You can also have CAE and Johnes tests done also.

Our state lab is $1.50 each for CAE and Johnes but the CL goes out to UCDavis. Our lab is close enough for us to drive the samples and drop them off, they send out the CL for us.
Not sure what state your in but it is usually a great help and very inexpensive.

I am going to do a tutorial this weekend and hopefully post in a few days on how to do straight fecals and McMAsters Method. I am not sure if it will be on "my page" or on a thread. Hopefully this will help a few that are just beginning.

Hope she starts perking up for you! :)

We use Ivermec Plus. We usually give it orally.

If the goat is in dire condition we will give it injectable because it works better and faster....

But yes. It burns a lot. They scream and kick and roll and it's the saddest thing ever.

Last time I gave it to a shot in the goat I only got half in and they pitched such a fit that they pulled the needle out and I didn't have the heart to do it again so I finished the rest orally.

Do it orally if you can help it, we only give it under the skin in emergencies.
