this is as addicting as doing the chickens
Welcome to the club!

I'm glad you were able to find him a friend. My SIL and her husband started out by buying a couple bull calves from us to have meat for themselves and then sell one. Now they buy all our bull calves and another SIL's calves as they have built up a reputation of having good meat and have the demand. Yes, it is very addicting!

I dunno... I found this forum through the chicken forum... and registered...but I don't know if I can handle all this calf/cow talk. Now I REALLY miss my girls!!
Calf prices in this area are sky high. A $50 Holstein bull would be half-dead. Jersey bulls are in that range. Dairy newborn Heifers are in the 500+ plus range and that is beef auction price.
Daughter just started her beef herd with 3 very nice 6 month old Charlois heifers @ .85 /lb
..But they are in her front yard, not mine.

I agree with Farmer Kitty: you have a Jersey cross. Hope he grows chunky for you!

He's growing really good and did he ever turn black. I've had them turn but you'd never know he had brown to him before.
