Bred my Cali doe with my VM buck 26 days ago. She is 2ish and he was 6 months. The morning breed went fine. He mounted successfully 3 times in about 10-15 minutes. Same day that evening, when I put her back in cage, she wanted NO part of him. Oh, she wanted a part, but with teeth bared! I quickly removed her. Yes, she is proven. No, I did not palpate as she is (or was) a nervous, tense doe. She is almost pleasant now and will even let you pet her, gently. Did she get pregnant that fast, or did she just get frustrated with him that morning for taking what she thought was to long?

You must have caught her right before she went out of heat.

Once out of heat, some does can get pretty upset with the buck.

Sure is nice when one try does the job!

Along with what Bunny lady asked, I generally see moodiness and general discomfort as time gets near. Slows down or stops eating. Most of mine do grab mouthfuls of hay and go to a corner to scratch and try to make a nest. The hay sticking out sides of mouth looks like and is called "dog boning". As a kid, and into my teens and early twenties, I do not remember letting the doe revisit the buck, and we almost always had successful matings. I do now, of course after 8 hours. Yah, she could be pregnant and I would put a nest box in on Day# 28 if you haven't already.
