Hi all. Newbie from WV here, very soon to be relocating to MT. (Just before Christmas) It's been a dream to get out of the city for several years now, and get back to small farming like I was raised with. We were hoping to move further away from *this* city in a couple years, but an opportunity cropped up across the country and we accepted with no hesitation. My heart's always been in Montana, and this time next year we're hoping to have a small homestead with about 20 acres out there.

I've been lurking for a bit, doing some research so that when the time comes I'm prepared. I'm mainly interested in a few cows for meat (wagyu or wagyu-cross), some chickens, and a few turkeys. Given the wildness of some of MT, I'm also kicking around the idea of adding a couple LGDs to protect both the "herd" and the homestead.

Nice to meet you'uns!

Thanks for the welcome. :) This place has been great so far, exactly what I've been looking for. I've been reading lots of interesting threads, which always leads to more research offsite with more interesting things. I figure I can never be too prepared.

I'll be starting a thread soon over on the journal subforum, even though I don't quite have a herd of anything yet, so that we can all get to know one another.

I know this has to be the infamous "Shadera" from Fauna Classifieds (how many could there be in WV?)...this is where I've been hanging out lately. Farming is a lot more work than snakes are (but I love them all). Congrats on your pending move!

Infamous? Why, flattery will get you everywhere with me. :D

Thanks much! I've been looking for alternate places to hang out, as there's only so much snake chat I can handle in a day anymore. Nice to see a familiar face!
