I have lost it with him before, and it sometimes produces results. But it's very frustrating to have to be in tears and screaming for something to actually get done. Not really how I want to model a successful relationship for my kids.

We are on our way back from vacation now, should have several hours of daylight left when we get home. We'll see what actually gets done when we get there.

Well, the last garden gates are finally up. Now just need to get the vision panels up and maybe add something above that to make the fence look taller so the dang deer will be less likely to jump over. Hubby says he will be eventually welding on conduit to make the gates taller. I'm hoping he will actually remove the gates to do the welding, as I'm picturing the sparks igniting or at least melting the vision panels.

He still hasn't finished tilling the area he wants to install in-ground plants. So, still not sure yet if we will actually have a garden this year, but at least it's getting closer. I have been watching a bunch of YouTube videos for preserving garden harvests and doing freezer meal prepping. AcreHomestead I think her name is, did a nice video where she made like 20 meals, video was about an hour I think but she did edit it a bit; pretty sure she did it all in one evening. Very inspiring and smart to pick meals that use common ingredients between them so the prep work was easier. Plus most of her foodstuff was home grown.

I saw a few videos for making your own ranch dressing powder, and thought that would be tasty to try to make, and then coat zucchini slices and dehydrate to make a healthy chip option. Haven't seen one yet for a sour cream and onion powder, as that is hubby's favorite flavor chip. The videos just keep using the store bought dip powder instead, which I guess works but I'm trying to amass a bunch of recipes so I won't need to depend on the store if I can help it.

All the critters survived vacation and the animal sitter was very excited for the amount I gave him. His mom tried to return part of it saying it was too much but I think it was worth it. I gave him $50 a day, he watched the animals 3 days over two weekends. We rarely go on vacation, the animals all survived, and he did a good job.

The plants were a little thirsty but that wasn't part of his duties and I knew they'd probably make it ok. I watered them before we left. The baby banana trees are getting bigger, I think they've put out 1-2 leaves since they arrived. The deer attacked again, looks the we won't be getting lemons on the new tree after all, all the started fruit is now gone along with most of the leaves. The lemon in the old garden looks like it's got fruit growing though.

The sun gold tomato was trimmed by the deer again, which is really annoying as it had started to set fruit. It is very vigorous though and is already bouncing back again. Haven't decided if it would be better to try to root one or two of the suckers and get a spare plant going, or just let it flop over and root one of its branches to take over the bed that way instead. I need to give it a cage or supports or something, unless it's supposed to be bushy and not taller?

Another step done in getting the job done! WTG.
I'll have to check AcreHomestead out. I'm all for having meals ready to go.
My green beans are bumper cropping - now what to do with all of them!!

Hubby keeps saying he wants to grow green beans. He loves them and grew up eating them. I didn't and don't like them, or at least haven't liked how they have been prepared for me thus far. I need to find a recipe or two that I can tolerate or even enjoy, so hubby will be happy and munchkin will learn to like them. Munchkin was throwing a lot of his food tonight at dinner, even the meat which he usually loves. Oh well, I keep telling myself it's a stage and he'll get through it.

Yes babies like to play with their food. It gets kinda messy. LOL

Fresh green beans:
Make bundles of 3-6 beans. Wrap bacon around the middle and bake. Usually half a strip is plenty.

Dip in buttermilk, then in flour and deep fry. Dip in ranch dressing and enjoy.

Add to stir fry and soups

Cook in saucepan with a little water and butter.
