[Larsen Poultry Ranch]

I got most of my new bulbs planted this morning, hopefully they sprout. I'm excited to see the different types of canna lillies. I was able to repot two more plants and water everything. Then I got sidetracked moving some garden stuff from the shed to the new garden zone.

I made a set of wire hoops hanging from the back wall of the shade structure to hold my bamboo stakes. Then I moved a bunch of empty nursery pots and got them sorted by size. Then I found a bunch of tags and a sharpie so I tagged the plants i just potted up. And then I found my small clippers I'd been looking for, so I had to use them to finally trim up several plants who had died back. Plus shape the camellia shrub. By the time I was done with all that I was tired and way too hot, plus almost going to be late for work.

This evening munchkin actually took a brief nap after I got off work, so I started putting the fence visual blocker thingy up. It's 6' tall, so I made sure to attach it to the top and bottom rows of the fence but it took a lot of tension to get it there and hold it while I twisted the wire through the grommets. My hands were aching and sore by the time I got about 15' done. Plus it was starting to get dark, so I stopped so we could run to the store. I definitely need to use some sort of come-along or bungee cords or something to help keep the panel up where I want it.

Each panel is 50', the original panel needs to be taken down and rearranged a bit to cover one of the gates. It was already half removed by the wind storms over the winter/spring. I have the second panel which I started installing today, and a third still in box. I don't remember if I bought a fourth panel or decided to wait until I had the others up first. I think I'll need a fourth panel but probably not a fifth. The really fun part is going to be figuring out how to cut the panels without causing them to unravel, and installing new grommets on the newly formed sides.

New milestone reached this morning: munchkin climbed out of the crib. Plus escaped the child zone since the gate wasn't closed. So he ran around the house and tried to get out of the front door. Thankfully he couldn't open it, but we'll have to come up with a plan.

14 more days of work after today till I'm off. Starting to get real. We are at 36 weeks tomorrow and the baby is very wiggly. Hubby keeps telling me my belly looks bigger than last time. Exactly what I want to hear...

Working on cleaning and organizing the house, I'm hoping we can get a lot done this weekend to make life easier when the baby gets here. I am going to make a bunch of freezer chicken pot pies, that will be tasty and quick. I have most of the ingredients for lasagna, need to make a few of those and freeze them. Hubby is complaining about the lack of freezer space.

sounds like freezer space is full of good/needed prepared meals! What's the complaint??? He doesn't like to eat or doesn't like to cook? Tell HIM to carry #3, nurse #2&3...then complain!! . Yeah, it's a man thing....they had fun making, now need to burden the work!

DD2 called me yesterday to report same thing - 2 yr old discovered she could climb out of crib! DD2's life as she knew it is over apparently. Her sister and sisters-in law all soothed her by pointing out that her mistake was allowing the baby to grow up. I suggested she buy some duct tape, build a lid for the crib with a padlock, or use Bubba's giant dog crate. DSIL1's oldest started Jr. Hi! They grow fast and are getting so old!

Does anyone remember that old movie with Doris day "Don't Eat the Daisies"? They had to keep the baby in a cage because he could escape from anywhere. LOL

LOL, and he escaped again yesterday morning. He was fighting his nap and hubby had left the baby gate open again because he was moving the saw from the back porch to the front yard so had to walk through the child zone, was almost to the gate but munchkin got there first and slammed it shut. Hubby had to juggle the saw until he could get a hand free to open the gate and chase after the munchkin. Munchkin had once again headed straight for the front door. Such a little stinker.

Went into the office on Monday to say hi since it will likely be the last time they see me pre-baby. They admired my baby bump and scarfed the brownies I brought. I stopped by the in-laws on the way home after work for dinner and to visit SIL and niece who were visiting from Nevada. Munchkin 1 had a good day playing with his cousin although he reportedly whacked her with a broom almost the first thing he did. Darn kid.

Arrived home before husband (he was transporting munchkin 1 from in-laws) and started getting stuff ready for munchkin 1's bedtime routine and looked out into the garden to see a doe and fawn inside the fence!! I ran screaming and cursing at them and chased them all over the garden. I grabbed a metal pole for part of the harbor freight structure and was whacking that on the ground as I cussed them out. They were suitably terrified and tried desperately to get away from the madwoman threatening them. The doe eventually jumped over the far man gate while the fawn apparently has not yet developed jumping skills. I threatened the fawn a minute or two more before it dove for the gap at the middle man gate by the house and squeezed out under the gate.

It doesn't look like they were in there too long, some of the squash plants are missing leaves and most of the pumpkins had the tips chewed off their vines. I can't tell if they got at the tomatoes because there was damage from last time. They got most of the strawberry plants that had managed to grow though.

It's hot today. Had Dr appointment, munchkin 2 is estimated in the 5 + pound range and is head down. Yay! Just a few more weeks to go!

I have a visual of a pregnant woman chasing 2 deer around the garden, screaming. I’m smiling, awww heck, I’m laughing. What about a second fence, a moat with a barking dog to run the moat?
