leaf shredder

Has anyone tried running hay through a leaf shredder before feeding to goats, to get them to eat all of the hay. I have heard it works but would like to make sure before purchasing one.Thanks

Many years ago I used to show pygmies with a man who ran all his alfalfa through a shredder of some sorts. It didn't grind it up real fine, but it did cut down any stem that were in it. Then he would mix a little bit of grain in it and call it good. His goats always looked good and the judges thought so too!
