I haven't forgotten this..will finish it out , hopefully later today or tonight..
As Nikola Tesla said when he pushed for DC. Edison and AC won out.more utilities are using High Voltage Direct Current because DC suffers less loss over long distances.
And at least in Vermont are now REQUIRED everywhere a GFI is not (ie wherever there isn't water). Makes for a very expensive panel. I asked the electrician when he did the rebuilt half of the house why all of a sudden we now need arc fault breakers. He said so fires don't start when people run extension cords under rugs and they fray over time I wonder how often that happens. I ASSUME there are other potential arc faults.They are called Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters or Arc Fault Circuit Breakers.
