((jealous)) Yep that's backwards but I wouldn't pass up a pretty boy like that either. But I think I'm going to get a nd buckling myself this spring. Even if I have to give him several baths throughout the year to keep the stink down and pacify the neighbors with lots of goat's milk soap.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nigerian Dwarfs! And congratulations on your new boy. You know, when I got my first Nigerians, I got two bucks (one came along as a companion) and I was searching for some does. My hubby continually reminded me that two bucks will not produce any babies for my little start up farm.

... Did I do that backwards?
Actually if you intend to build a herd from scratch; Then buying "the perfect buck" is Exactly where you should start.....Most people buy does/doelings then later buy the "right now buck" when their does begin to cycle and they realize they need something. It will be easy to fill your doe order when you are ready. Then after a short quarentine, which will also act as an introductory period for the new "pairs", your buck which has already made your farm his home, won't wait too long to "do the deed"...alot easier than adding a new buck to your exsisting herd of open does....Besides the right buck will show part of himself in EVERY kid that he ever sires, a doe will only affect Her kids...I would say that would make the buck Substantially more imporant than the does and a Much more important Buy.
